What type of carrier have you always wanted to try? Is there a tricky back or side carry you need demonstrated? Need help figuring out how to nurse in your carrier? At the next La Leche League meeting some experienced babywearers in our group will be ready to demonstrate and assist with hands-on practice. Bring your carriers and try ours! We'll have ring slings, pouches, knit & woven wraps, soft structured carriers, and more. Of course we always have space for your breastfeeding questions, concerns, and successes. Just because the next two Tuesdays fall on holidays doesn't mean we need to go cold turkey from LLL camaraderie! Tama's kids are continuing their adorable holiday tradition of throwing a party for LLL mamas, babies, and children next Friday. They will have toddler-friendly games, snacks and an art project. Partners, siblings, friends and relatives are also welcome! If you find yourself needing breastfeeding support, Leaders and other mothers will be on hand to lend an ear. At the next La Leche League meeting we'll have an opportunity to think about and share our pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and mothering stories. As you know, every meeting lends itself to opportunities to listen and learn from each other, as often accompanied by tears as laughter. One of our former LLL Leaders, Krista Bailey, is involved in Michiana Monologues at IUSB ( http://www.michianamonologues.org/ ), and in hearing so many women's stories as a part of this production was reminded of the wonderful perspectives in the LLL community. She will be visiting with us this week to help us to think about the healing and enjoyable process of forming our own experiences as stories. Have a baby sling and not sure how to use it? This Monday the 18th at 10:30 we will be meeting at the River Park Branch Library meeting room for demonstrations and help with this sometimes complicated art. We're still waiting for confirmation on the room but we have a back up in case we are rejected, so keep a look out for any changes posted on the blog. Bring your own sling or try some of the other types that will be there. If you have experience in baby wearing, even if it's only one kind of carrier, please consider joining us to share your techniques:) *UPDATE* 1/14/10 The River Park Library room has been confirmed.
