LLL playgroup!

Image
Are we jinxing the weather by stating that we'll have playgroup next week? Think positively, right? Happily, the Humphrey's room is big, so those toddlers who have been cooped up in all this cold will have room to move. Olivia, our playgroup host, has recommended that we have a start time of 10:15, since the library opens at 10. That way you won't have to wait outside in the cold, and will have a chance to pop upstairs to borrow books and toys if you like. Those of you with tiny babes or babes still in utero, please know that this playgroup is for you too! Support from other mothers is what we're all about:) Tuesday, February 4 between 10:15 and noon 304 South Main Street  South Bend, Indiana 46601  http://www.sjcpl.org/main/ Humphreys Multimedia Room:  http://www.sjcpl.org/meetingrooms/

Our January 28 meeting is cancelled because of the county-wide travel ban. Stay warm and nurse all day:)

Family Interactions Study

The Notre Dame Anthropology Department is conducting a study on how parents react physiologically to their children (how hormones fluctuate).  They are currently seeking participants; they need parents who co-habitate and have 5-7 month old infants. Each eligible family will receive a $50 gift certificate to Walmart. We have attached the informational flyer for anyone who might be interested.   Family Well-being

LLL Meeting: Fussy Babies/Myths & Misconceptions

Image
"The baby is so fussy, you're  probably not making enough milk." "Give the baby cereal before bed and she'll sleep all night."  "Why don't you take a break--I'll give the baby a bottle for you." I'm sure we've all seen breastfeeding used as the scapegoat for many issues in our babies and children--how do we stay strong in the face of doubts? Many breastfeeding mothers are surprised by how needy/fussy/colicky our babies are...until we compare notes with other families!  At next week's meeting we'll talk about how our babies might not match our (or society's) expectations. We'll discuss what kind of myths and misconceptions are floating around about babies and breastfeeding, and how to remain confident in our parenting choices. We'll also share techniques we've found to help our babies and ourselves move through some of the tougher times. There will also be time to share breastfeeding questio

LLL-our growing nurslings

How is your nursing relationship changing as your baby moves towards (or through) toddlerhood?  Are you thinking about getting pregnant again but aren't sure whether you should wean first? And how to do that in a respectful and gradual way? Wondering about nursing through pregnancy and continuing to tandem nurse once the new baby is here? If you are curious about any of these issues, or have experiences to share, please join us at the next LLL morning meeting! And even if these topics aren't relevant to you right now, come enjoy the camaraderie, commiseration and support of other nursing mamas. And we always make space for any other concerns or questions you may have! See you  Tuesday, January 22 @10am Sunnyside Presbyterian Church 115 S.
