Hello, Mamas! At this month's meeting we will be talking about the myriad reasons we choose to breastfeed, why we love it, why we push through the times we don't love it, and the constantly growing list of amazing things breastmilk and breastfeeding do for us physically, emotionally, and in other ways! What are some of your favorite facts about the power of our milk and the breastfeeding bond? What inspired you to breastfeed your child/ren? What struggles have you worked through? The cultural conversation has often centered around the "breast is best" adage, but that implies that breastfeeding is a bonus instead of simply the baseline. Since breastfeeding is the biological norm, let's change the conversation and talk about why we are glad to have (and give) the support we need to in order to make nursing possible! Hello Friends! No matter what our lives looked like before kids, we all know our perspectives are vastly different after. And whether we go back to work after 6 weeks, 12 weeks, full-time, part-time, not at all, SAHM, WAHM, free-lancer, mompreneur, etc., we all struggle with balance and how to Make It Work.  At the next LLL morning meeting we'll share ideas of how we have done this and issues we haven't yet solved. How do you fill those long hours with baby? How do you divvy up household chores? How do you fit breastfeeding and/or pumping into your new lifestyle? (Or how do you adapt your lifestyle to breastfeeding?!) Child care? How do you make sure you get the help you need? When do you take on new duties? How do you structure your days in a way that works for you and your child(ren)? Join us Tuesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. at the Tutt Branch Library to discuss weaning - how to introduce solid foods, how to cut back it you are pumping, foods to offer to babies, how to figure out when your baby is ready for solids, night time weaning and any other questions you have. Expectant mothers and babies welcome. And mark you calendar for the Picnic in the Park - Saturday, August 17 from 11- 1 at Potowatimi Park, Pavilion 1 (park on Greenlawn). This event is to celebrate you - a breastfeeding parent. Entire family is welcome. Hotdog lunch. Photo fundraiser for our group, and activities for kids.
