Kennedy Water Playground
Kennedy Water playground opens June 9, 2011
Located in Kennedy Park 2700 West more, South Bend
Located at Kennedy Park, Kennedy Water Playground is a low depth interactive water playground. Kennedy also has locker rooms and a concession stand.

Fee: Ages 0 – 2: free
        Ages 3 – 10: $4
        Ages 11 & over: $5
Times: 11-5 Mon - Sat, noon-5 on Sundays

St. Joe Library has too many Summer Story times and Lapsits to list. Check the web or just stop by your closest library. For example:

The Blueberry Ranch- local organic you pick and they don’t weigh the child before and after picking!
Season usually starts right about now. You can get on their face book page or e-mail list to be reminded.

From 80/90 take Exit 83 heading south on Capitol for 2 miles.  Turn east onto Douglas for 2.5 miles to Buckeye. Head south for .75 miles to 54743 Buckeye Rd. You are at the entrance to the Blueberry Ranch where you will experience the best and only U-Pick Organic Blueberry farm in the Midwest!

This is a great place to see a movie while nursing! We sit outside our car in lawn chairs while the toddlers run around the swing sets.  $8 per person for 2 movies
$5 children 4-11 for 2 movies

Box office opens at 7:30 Friday and Saturday, and 8:00 Sunday through Thursday, and note the box office closes at 10:00 PM Monday through Thursday.  CASH ONLY!

Food and beverages provided by Papa John’s Pizza and Dainty Maid Bake Shop.

The best advice I ever received for surviving summer with a toddler was to have your bag packed and in the car waiting for you!  My emergency summer fun bag  had water bottles,  granola bars, swimsuits, a towel, sunscreen, bug repellent, one extra kid outfit, 2 diapers,  a rain poncho (the disposable kind), a sweatshirt , a kid hat and a grownup hat and a secret $20 in cash just in case. If these things were already waiting for me in the car and the toddler personality gods smiled on me then away we went! BUT if I had to gather this stuff first forget it!

LLL Meeting: Starting Solids

Are you thinking about  starting   solids ? Wondering about how best to care for your own nutritional needs as a nursing mother? Dealing with a picky toddler or preschooler? Tuesday's morning meeting will be all about introducing first foods and encouraging nutritious eating as our children grow. Come with questions or experiences to share. We are thrilled to be able to show a short video on the subject that we made in collaboration with a video production class at Saint Mary's College--you'll see some familiar faces!!
